BAnQ

A flagship institution for access to culture, the BAnQ (Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec) is responsible for the inventory, acquisition, conservation, diffusion and processing of documentary heritage. It is a symbol of content and cultural diffusion in Montreal.
The contemporary architecture of the BAnQ is an important part of the immediate landscape and the perimeter of the Quartier des spectacles. The signature of the QdS, the famous red dot, had to be easily identifiable while integrating into its environment.
The concept is articulated around a series of red light rings extending along the Berri Street façade, as well as a dynamic projection of red rings on the wall adjacent to the main entrance door.
The animation of the rings, both at the entrance and along the façade, accompanies the visitors’ path through the BAnQ while signifying its participation in the Quartier des spectacles.
