In 2017, as part of the 375th anniversary of the city of Montreal, the iconic Jacques Cartier Bridge will become the first connected bridge in the world, as well as an attraction for visitors, but above all, a powerful symbol of Montreal’s creativity.
Living Connections
Its unique character and grand architecture served as a starting point for Moment Factory and six Montreal-based multimedia and lighting studios, including UDO Design. Its steel structure, evoking a network of hundreds of connections, inspired the creators to create the concept of living connections.
More than an architectural illumination, the bridge is harmonized with the colors of each season and drinks in the energy of Montrealers. It is a witness to the passing of time and the effervescence of the city. The data it collects makes it a real-time sensor of the pulse of Montreal. In addition to its active involvement in the overall lighting and programming of the structure, UDO was mandated to enhance the stone pillars and the structural lace on which the external interactive matrix is affixed.
