Flora Borealis is a mile-long immersive interactive trail in the heart of the St. Louis Botanical Garden in St. Louis, MI. The botanical garden is a National Historic Landmark and the oldest botanical garden still in operation in the United States. The trail allows visitors to discover the secret life of plants in a magical nighttime atmosphere.
THE LUMINOUS IDENTITY
Our objective of highlighting the site and the richness of the various plant species present is oriented towards a museum-like sensibility that allows to underline certain elements of the landscape while magnifying them.
The minimalist light signature allows the selected key elements of the landscape to stand out. The use of light is subtle and effective through associations of luminous materials, the choice of color temperatures and certain ranges of pastel colors, as well as a dynamization of the light content. Each space is treated as a museum and showcased with its own identity in a concern for overall consistency.
