La Nébuleuse
The Nebula is the first threshold of Jardins de lumière of The Montreal Botanical Garden. Spread across the canopy of the garden’s entrance, it orients the gaze and prepares the mind before the journey opens onto three gardens, three cultures, three visions of the world.
16,000 LED light points weave a 30-metre vault between the site’s mature trees. As night falls, the structure disappears: all that remains is a trail suspended in the darkness, indistinguishable from the branches and foliage it passes through, as though a fragment of the night sky had come to rest among the trees.
THE LUMINOUS MATTER
The orbs move in organic, slow, celestial waves — a living dynamic that accompanies visitors as they walk and invites them to continue. A palette of amber, copper and warm white tones creates a shimmering effect that evokes both dying embers and stardust.
The deliberate slowness of the animations and the softness of the hues bring visitors into a state of contemplation. In a world saturated with visual stimulation, this restraint becomes a design statement in its own right.
The Nebula does not illuminate; it envelops.
