CONCEPT

If you take a walk along the South St. Lawrence River, you will easily dive into a contemplative state of the landscape. However, an industrial building contrasts with the whole place. Its location of choice in relation to its activity, the production of electricity by gravity of water, is perfectly logical and understandable. The will is to highlight it, day and night, with a minimum of intervention. One of the architectural features put forward is linearity. The latter is treated vertically to frame the night perception and horizontally to reveal the course. The hierarchy of the two entries is signified by action more assertive than the other.

LIGHT EXPERIENCE

The lighting is inserted into the architecture. Light becomes the revealing element, without taking precedence, of the architectural arrangement of materials. A light balance is proposed to suggest depth between the three vertical planes.

The first plane is the vegetation, the second is the wood siding and the last is the interior space.

Night perception provides a subtle reading of the activity as well as a discovery of the new architecture. The insertion of the light intervention provides comfort and interrogation: where does the light come from?
